FADING FLORIDA
“Fading Florida” is a series of intaglio photogravure prints made with photopolymer plates, as they are photographs printed by hand using ink, paper and a press. An alternative method to traditional photogravure, photopolymer or light-reactive plastic, has become more popular in the past few decades due to its low toxicity, ease of use and availability.
All images printed in this series are of moments that I identify as uniquely revelatory of the identity of Tampa in this moment in time. Florida is a state that is always in flux, in with the new and out with the old. I seek to find those moments of transition in my artwork in this series, “Fading Florida.” -Susan Fredricks
